I scooped up the tiny ball of cream-colored fluff and looked into her eyes.

‘Your name is Tifa ‘ I told her out loud.

She was my first Pomeranian.

I had seen a picture of her since she was born and waited impatiently for 8 weeks to take her home.

I felt my heart expand a million times as I finally held this puppy who could fit inside a teacup 🥹

I promised to love her forever 🫶

Looking down at the Pomeranian on my exam table, Chanel, I knew her mom, Dianne, felt the same way about her.

Chanel had come to me because she had been diagnosed with Cushing’s, a hormonal imbalance.

Her little pot-bellied look was typical of Cushing’s.

She’s already on medication for hypothyroidism, she’s 15 years old, and we want to improve her health, not give her more medication,’ her mom Dianne told me.

‘Then that’s exactly what we’ll do,’ I replied.

We decided to put Chanel on lignans and melatonin supplements to help manage her symptoms.

We added dandelion root and milk thistle for liver support, along with a fresh food diet.

To further support her healing, Chanel received nanolight acupuncture therapy—using specific wavelengths of light combined with herbs to promote healing at the cellular level.

She started coming for ozone therapy via rectal insufflation to improve oxygenation and reduce inflammation.

We also gave her a few aquapuncture therapy sessions with B12 to boost her energy and overall well-being.

I’d first seen Chanel in January, and by August, when we rechecked Chanel’s levels—she no longer had Cushing’s disease!

Dianne and I hugged–THIS was the outcome we’d been after 🎉

No drugs with long lists of side effects necessary.

No putting strain on Chanel’s 15 year old liver.

No leaving this sweet Pom without options.

Outcomes like this are the reason I’ll never get bored of integrative veterinary medicine.

In fact, I feel like I’m just getting started! 🦄
