I’m writing this on my flight home from Charleston after attending a veterinary management meeting. It’s been two full days of sitting in a conference room.
(Which, if you know me, is quite the accomplishment 😅)
There are very few things that can keep me sitting still that long… unless it’s something that really challenges me, excites me, or teaches me something new.
But these management meetings get a bit repetitive for me since they usually revolve around familiar topics — leadership, HR, marketing, workflow, and finances.
I wouldn’t call myself an expert in any of these areas, but I’ve always built IPWC a little differently…
To me it’s a heart-based business 💖
I know it’s a phrase that gets thrown around a lot, but for me, it’s simple: if my heart ever stops feeling aligned with what I do, no amount of “business success” could keep me doing it 💁♀️
As I look out the window now, chasing the sunset (one of my favorite parts about flying west), I’m reminded of something magical — that moment when everything quiets down and you can actually hear your own heart again. That’s usually when my biggest “a-ha” moments come ✨
Tonight’s theme is ripples…
Every once in a while, you get the gift of hearing how something you said or did made someone’s life a little bit better.
Maybe you helped them heal, maybe you gave them hope, maybe you simply reminded them they weren’t alone.
And when they go out and do the same for someone else — that’s how the ripples spread.
As I was flying home, I thought about all the stories people have shared with me lately — little reminders of how our work here matters.
I’m still learning how to fully receive that, but I also know it’s part of how I refill my own cup so I can keep sending good energy back into the world.
To be honest, I get tired too. I get discouraged, and sometimes even a little jaded. And this trip came right after a tough moment that shook me, but somewhere above the clouds, I started to find my compass again.
So if you’re ever feeling lost or worn out, look around — there are people out there touched by your ripples, even if you don’t always see them.
And please, be kind to yourself. Always 💖
With love,
🦄 Dr. Lily
