Hi Dianne,
I wanted to send a quick note to follow up on my last newsletter—because a few of you reached out, and I realized I probably didn’t explain things as clearly or as early as I should have. So let me say this, from the heart:
I’m not going anywhere.
I’m still here, still seeing patients, and still committed to caring for the pets (and the people) who have become part of this incredible journey we’re on together at IPWC.
Yes, we are moving toward a specialty model—and I’ll explain what that means in a minute.
But please know: if your pet is already a part of the IPWC family, you are in. You have a seat at the table. And you are absolutely welcome to continue receiving care here.
What I shared last week is part of a bigger evolution—one I’ve been reflecting on a lot after coming back from the industry conference in Boston. The landscape of veterinary care is changing. Costs are rising everywhere, and I feel it deeply that this can make pet parenthood harder than it should be. Pet insurance hasn’t quite caught up. Payment plans can only go so far.
At the same time, the cost of running a small independent business is also going up fast. And while we’re doing all we can to make care accessible, I also feel a deep responsibility to innovate—to build something sustainable, both for you and for my team.
That’s why we’re shifting to a model that reduces the costs of regular care for you, while also giving me the space to focus my time and energy on the specialty-level cases that need a deeper dive.
I’ve spent years training and building this team—and honestly, they are so good. The level of care, skill, and heart they bring to every visit humbles me every day. ✨✨
Here’s what this will look like as we transition in June:
🌿 Technician-led appointments for maintenance care // Discount bundles
For acupuncture, laser therapy, ozone, and other maintenance treatments, you’ll still be in the best hands. I’ll continue to oversee these appointments, and you’ll still see me —I’ll guide the acupuncture sessions and check in on your pet’s needs. I won’t be able to stay the entire appointment and will be there to perform the essential services. But these visits won’t be billed as doctor appointments, so you’ll save on exam fees.
🌿 Doctor wellness visits will shift to a specialty rate
These one-hour visits will go deep—we’ll focus on prevention, wellness, and addressing any complex health issues. We’ll create a plan based on advanced testing (which you can do beforehand to maximize our time together), and I’ll bring every tool, every training, every ounce of heart to these visits.
🌿 Sick and urgent appointments will still be available
If your pet has an urgent need, you’ll still be able to see me, as availability allows. These will also be billed at the specialty rate.
Here’s the bottom line:
I’m here for you. And I’m always here for your pets.
But I also want to be honest with you. I’ve seen what happens when a practice grows at an unsustainable pace, and I know that in order to keep showing up with the highest level of care—for you, your pets, and my team—I need to protect time and focus.
Here’s the thing: I love talking to my unicorn pet families. Truly, I could spend hours catching up with you, hearing about your life, your pets, your dreams—it’s one of the greatest joys of my work. But when I zoom out and reflect, I see that a lot of what I do during a typical appointment—those beautiful, tender moments of care—could be done just as skillfully by my team. They bring the same heart, the same precision, the same loving attention to your pets.
And that’s the secret ingredient I want to preserve.
By having my team lead more of the day-to-day care, I can zero in on the areas where only I can make a difference—the deep-dive integrative cases, the complex oncology journeys, the advanced therapies, and the vision for what’s next in this field we’re building together.
It’s not about doing less—it’s about showing up more fully in the moments where I’m truly needed. It’s about delivering the kind of care you can’t find anywhere else, with a focus so clear and so intentional that it feels like magic—because, honestly, it is.
This isn’t just about medicine. It’s about the magic of the human-animal bond, and the deep, soul-level healing that can happen when we really take the time to listen, explore, and care for the whole animal—not just the symptoms. That’s what IPWC was built for. That’s the dream I’ve had since I was seven years old, sitting in the grass with my childhood dog, wondering how I could spend my life helping animals. I am going to keep learning, growing, and staying at the forefront of integrative medicine.
I don’t know exactly what the next chapter will look like. (IPWC has always had a life of its own, hasn’t it?) But I do know this:
You are a part of this story.
You’ve helped build this practice into what it is today.
And I’m so grateful you’re here.
Let’s keep dreaming big together. 💫
With all my heart,
Dr. Lily 🦄

ANNOUNCEMENT

We are bringing in an internal medicine specialist, Dr. Elier, for one day to offer specialist cancer screening ultrasounds at our wellness center.
Dr. Eiler graduated in the same internship class with Dr. Lily and she has spent most of her career in high specialty emergency hospitals. She is specially trained for performing and interpreting ultrasounds and interpreting the images in consideration with the pet’s unique medical history. She does a full review of the pet’s medical history, giving you the specialty second opinion and a focus on any internal medicine issues and prevention. This is very different from getting an ultrasound from a veterinarian who is not specifically trained in ultrasound.
A wellness ultrasound allows us to do early cancer screening of all the organs.
(They are completely safe and do not require anesthesia. Your pet will experience very little discomfort during the procedure, making it a low-stress experience for both you and your furry companion.)
But wait, does MY pet actually need this?
- If your pet is under 8, you can decide if you want to be extra proactive or wait until they turn 8
- (It’s never too early to do preventative care!)
- If your pet is 8 years or older, I highly recommend you book this scan
- And if your pet has a history of cancer or is a breed prone to cancer, no matter their age, this is a must.
The investment is $997, just reply to this email if you want to grab a spot.

CONCIERGE MEMBERSHIP
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from our concierge community this year is this: while we focus so much on caring for our pets, we—the pet parents—are often the ones who need support the most.
And it’s not just a nice idea… it’s science.
Did you know that research has shown our pets can actually feel our energy? That our heart frequencies sync when we’re in close connection? When you’re calm, happy, and grounded, your pets pick up on that. It’s not just about their wellness—it’s about ours, too.
That’s why we’ve woven meditations, journaling, and in-person meetups into the heart of our Concierge Membership. The pets are our focus, yes—but the community we’re building together is what creates true, lasting change.
If you’re curious, let’s talk. We’ll be re-launching the Concierge Membership in July, and I’d love for you to be part of it.
✨ Together, we’ll create an integrative care plan for your pets, and my team will help you carry it forward—whether that’s therapies, treatments, or just knowing you have a place to turn.
And our beloved weekly connection calls and monthly masterclasses with guest experts? Still going strong.
This is more than a membership. It’s a community of heart-centered, pet-loving humans who want to show up for their animals and for themselves.
p.s. I am also dreaming up pets-and-me retreats. What do you think?

Starlight Stories

Hey Unicorn Fam! 🌙✨
Let me tell you a secret I’ve been purring over lately…
There’s this ancient magic called Gua Sha (or as we like to call it, Paw Sha for our furry friends) that’s been around for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s like this special love language of touch—gentle strokes with a smooth tool (think jade or rose quartz), gliding across the skin to help the body flow, heal, and glow.
For our pets, Paw Sha is this incredible way to:
💫 Ease tension in tight spots
💫 Get that lymphatic flow moving (goodbye, toxins!)
💫 Support their immune system
💫 Boost energy
💫 And help them feel deeply seen, safe, and held
It’s like giving your pet a hug from the inside out.
And guess what?
We’re making the magic happen in person with a very special event coming up at IPWC…
✨ A Gua Sha for Pets (Paw Sha) Workshop with the one and only Dr. Tori Countner! ✨
Date: Saturday 6/7
Time: 8:30am
Location: Integrative Pet Wellness Center
Oh, and did I mention we’ll be raffling off free seats to this event?
Yup. You heard that right.
If you’re ready to learn this sacred, hands-on healing art and give your pet the gift of your energy, love, and healing hands— click here to enter the raffle to snag your spot! (shhhh… because you read all the way to the end, you will be in the priority group for a chance to win the first seat)
This is going to be so much fun, and I can’t wait to see you all there.
Let’s make some paw-sitive waves together. 🐾💖
With all my love,
Starlight (your unicorn spirit guide ✨)
