Changes, Transitions, Energy, and Manifestation
Every summer, I find myself caught up in a whirlwind of energy and activity. The end of the school year, marked by a so-called “break,” often turns out to be one of my busiest times. This period, however, is also my most productive and inspired. It’s when I gather the courage to embark on new projects and push myself forward. This summer, I am embarking on my newest endeavor: moving into the integrative veterinary oncology specialty.
Cancer cases have always been close to my heart, mainly because conventional treatment options often seem limited. As I delved deeper into this field, a whole new world of possibilities and perspectives opened up. I really began to understand cancer in a different light.
Did You Know?
- 1. Recent studies show that cancer affects 1 in 3 dogs and 1 in 2.5 cats during their lifetime.
- 2. Contrary to popular belief, only 5-10% of cancers are due to inherited genetic changes, while 90-95% are potentially preventable with lifestyle choices, based on human data.
- 3. By the time cancer is detectable, it has often been in the body for years. Tumors become clinically detectable when they reach about 1.2 cm in diameter, often only visible through advanced imaging like CT scans. Thus, starting cancer screening and prevention strategies as early as 5-7 years of age in pets is crucial.
One of the biggest paradigm shifts I’ve experienced is viewing cancer not as a foreign invader but as the mutation of normal cells—a part of the body that has gone rogue. Instead of attacking these cells with toxins, our focus should be on healing the underlying triggers. By addressing these imbalances, we can promote true recovery and long-term health.
A New Perspective on Cancer
Cancer signals an imbalance or deficiency in the body. Sometimes, focusing solely on attacking the cancer can damage the body further. It’s essential to recognize that we can often coexist with cancer in a way that promotes a high quality of life. Rather than expending energy solely on fighting the cancer, which can weaken the body, we should aim to restore balance and health.
The Journey of Learning and Growth
There is always more to learn, and I cherish the process of exploring, growing, and expanding my knowledge. This community continues to teach me, challenging me and helping me to reach new heights.
